I'm looking to buy one for my baby due in July. I already have a 16 month old so plan to mainly carry the new baby with toddler in a pushchair.I think the Baby Bjorn one is one of the most popular here in UK, but I'm wondering whether there is anything else to rival it on the market? I saw a nice Mothercare one but the store assistant said the own brand ones were much more fiddly to put on. I really want one that's easy to get on and get baby in as a friend had one that she couldn't do up herself - seriously - I had to go round and help them with it whenever we were going out!So, which one did you use and would you recommend it? Any advice appreciated thanks!

I have used the Moby Wrap since my baby was 4 weeks old. I LOVE IT! And would definitely recommend it.

I had the baby bjorn for my baba until he was about 8 months old. It's an easy going carrier. Such a shame it doesn't go over 20lbs !After that, I got an Ergo carrier and it's fantastic. I can carry him on the front, in my back or even on my hip up to 4 years old! ( he's only 13 months). It costs about £80 but it lasts for long and it is extremely comfortable. The baby bjorn doesn't have any lombar support unlike the ergo which has a big padded belt for the parents. It is suitable from birth too !Good luck for everything !(Why don't you use a buggy board for your toddler? I could be quite fun !)

I have a hotslings pouch carrier. Baby and I love it. I am a horribly uncoordinated person and am able to easily use it. If I'd had the money to I would have purchased an Ergo carrier, they are very highly rated. My sling works just fine though and allows me to wrangle my older two children while baby snuggles and sleeps .

Unless they've changed the Bjorn its very bad for baby.Any carrier where the babies legs"dangle"or hang straight down puts stress on the hip joint and puts the baby's whole weight on their tailbone and crotch. The baby's legs should be held about 90 degrees from each other and about 90 degrees from their body with at least the whole buttocks supported by fabric to distribute their weight and preferably the upper thighs as well.Personally I like the Mei Tei ones. They are easy to put on once you learn how, though I will admit you do need to sit down to do it yourself (mind you even if you can do it standing with the others you really aren't meant to). There is probably a baby-wearing group near you that has moms that can not only show you how to put on any carrier but also have many different carriers they will be happy to let you try on.Try looking on meetup.com and groups.yahoo.com for groups near you.

The Baby Bjorn is not everything it is put out to be! It is not good on babies spine. I would get a wrap (Moby and Sleepy are a couple of nice ones) a pouch style sling ( I love my fleece Peanut Shell) or a Mei Tai.
